The first workshop… • Process and timeline for the work programme with key milestones • Preparatory work on revised UNFCCC GL to continue in 2010 √ • Parties to agree, in 2010, on the process and timeline for the work programme √ • Additional workshop in 2011 on UNFCCC GL, including CRF reporter • Launch of preparatory work by the secretariat on the CRF reporter • Issues related to the revision of the UNFCCC GL • General reporting issues, e.g. transparency • Issues related to coverage of reporting, e.g. Indirect CO2 emissions and F-gases coverage • Role of the previous IPCC GL • Classification of some of the aspects of the CRF tables The first workshop on the revision of the UNFCCC Annex I reporting guidelines

Draft process and timeline for the work programme The first workshop… • Methodological issues related to reporting when using the 2006 IPCC GL • Effect of using higher tier methods • AFOLU matters, including managed land as a proxi for estimating athropogenic emissions/removals • Other methodological issues, such as wetlands, harvested wood products and N2O from soils • Possible areas for contribution of the IPCC to the work programme • Other issues, e.g. financial implications and possible revision of the UNFCCC review GL The first workshop on the revision of the UNFCCC Annex I reporting guidelines (continued)

What lies ahead… • Agreed on the process and timeline of the work programme √ • Requested the secretariat to organise the second WS under the work programme √ • On IPCC matters • Noted the IPCC work on tier 3 methods and complex approaches √ • Invited the IPCC to present at the WS 2 the report on the workshop on managed land and the meeting on tier 3 methods and complex approaches √ • Invited the IPCC to organise a meeting on HWP, wetlands and N2O emissions from soils √ • Invited Parties to submit further views on the revision of the UNFCCC GL (FCCC/SBSTA/2010/MISC.7, Add.1 and 2) √ SBSTA 32

What lies ahead… • Requested the secretariat to • Prepare an annotated draft of the revised UNFCCC GL for initial discussion by the WS3 and then for consideration by SBSTA34 • Organise the WS 3 • Commence, in 2010, a preparatory technical assessment of the upgrade of the CRF software • Invited Annex I Parties to support the wok programme activities • Acknowledged the need for capacity building SBSTA 32 (continued)
