  3. Current Detector ConfigurationDecember, 1999 • South calorimeter on sidewalk • Run 1 Central Tracking removed • End toroids on sidewalk, Run 1 detectors (PDTs) removed • Central iron in open position to allow access • Solenoid, Central Preshower installed in central bore • Shield wall up • Hi-Bay clear for staging, other work in Assembly Hall

  4. Current Detector ConfigurationDecember, 1999 • End irons prepared for mounting A- and B-layer detectors (MDTs, pixels) on faces • Most of Central Muon PDTs, A-f, cosmic cap installed • Commissioning Level 1 trigger, muon system, online, silicon front-end, solenoid

  5. Current Detector ConfigurationPhase I • A-layer MDTs, Pixels being mounted, surveyed onto faces of end irons • C-layer truss and shielding has arrived in Hi-Bay, being dressed • Remainder of detector remains open for access

  6. Current Detector Configuration • Commissioning continues, using Central Muon as prototype system: • Multi-crate readout of full central muon system • Event monitoring, crate control, steady DAQ running, filtering • Exercise reconstruction, online event display (on cosmic ray muons)

  7. Forward Muon B-Layer InstallationMay-June, 2000 • A-layer planes installed • B-layer MDTs, Pixels being mounted, surveyed onto faces of end irons • C-layer trusses and shielding continue to be dressed in Hi-Bay

  8. Forward Muon B-Layer InstallationMay-June, 2000 • End irons moved toward center of Assembly Pit to allow access for B-layer installation/surveying • Commissioning continues

  9. Install Fiber Tracker in SolenoidJune, 2000 • Fiber Tracker being installed in central bore • A- and B-layer detectors installed on end irons • B-layers Pixels open to allow access for hookup/commissioning • Commission Fiber Tracker (and Silicon) as they arrive

  10. Install Fiber Tracker in SolenoidMay, 2000 • Fiber Tracker + Cart/I-Beam system lowered into gap between South End Calorimeter and Central Calorimeter • Rolled into solenoid bore along I-Beam Cart System Fiber Tracker

  11. Move Platform West, Pick Up End IronsNovember 3-15, 2000 • Silicon and Fiber Tracker both installed • South End Calorimeter back in place on platform • Platform moves west to pick up two end irons, now loaded with A- and B-layer detectors • C-layer MDTs and Pixels installed and surveyed onto trusses in Hi-Bay, ready to move down to sidewalk

  12. Move Platform West, Pick Up End IronsNovember 3-15, 2000 • Detector buttoned up during move: central iron, calorimeters closed • A- and B-layer detector planes shut • No commissioning during this period (detector disconnected from services) • Movable Counting House moves with detector during pick up

  13. Platform Returns to East Position Beginning Phase II • Detector returns to east position with end irons installed • Central irons, calorimeters in open position • Ready for trusses to be brought down to sidewalk • Commissioning resumes: • gradual integration of all detectors for Cosmic Ray Commissioning: Silicon, Fiber Tracker, Calorimeters, Central and Forward Muons, Trigger

  14. North EMC Truss Moves to North SidewalkNovember 20-28, 1999 • North C-layer truss, with MDTs and Pixels mounted, moves to north sidewalk • End irons, calorimeters closed to allow clearance to shield wall • Central irons open • EMCs, shielding re-assembled on sidewalk to prepare for rolling in

  15. EMCs Installed in Collision HallDecember 11, 2000 - January 11, 2001 • Shield wall is broken down, moved to now free space in Hi-Bay • North and South C-layer trusses/shields, having been assembled on sidewalk, rolled into Collision Hall - surveyed into place • Detector will be rolled into place to meet trusses

  16. EMCs Installed in Collision Hall • Full Cosmic Ray Commissioning of all systems continues during most of this period • End irons, calorimeters can be opened for access

  17. Detector Rolled in and Hooked UpFebruary 6, 2001 • Full detector rolled in to final closed position: hooked up, ready for beam • Shield wall back up • Movable Counting House travels with detector, cable bridge down • Commissioning with cosmic rays will continue until beam is delivered (March 1, 2001)

  18. Access to Detector in Collision Hall Closed Position - Data-Taking Open Position - Detector Access North B-layer pixels open North end iron closed South calorimeter open South end iron open Shielding retracted

  19. Detector Rolled In, Hooked UpPhase III • Detector installed in compact space • Access to internal tracking detectors, end muon detector planes must be carefully coordinated

  20. South EMC Truss Moves to South SidewalkNovember 29- December 5, 1999 • South C-layer truss moves to south sidewalk • EMCs, shielding re-assembled on sidewalk to prepare for rolling in

  21. South EMC Truss Moves to South SidewalkNovember 29- December 5, 1999 • South C-layer truss moves to south sidewalk in two pieces, reassembled • Preparing to take down shield wall for roll in
