  1. 13.1 Matrices and Systems of Equations SWBAT find the dimensions of a matrix SWBAT solve systems of equations using matrices

  2. Dimensions of a Matrix Row Column

  3. Find the dimensions of each matrix

  4. Find the dimensions of each matrix

  5. Solve using Row Reduction Echelon Form rref • Row Reduction echelon form is very similar to solving systems using elimination (linear combination) • Our goal is to get the values of x, y, and/or z.

  6. Using the graphing calculator • Line up the variables and constant • Write as an augmented matrix • Go to Matrix (2nd Matrix) • Arrow to the right to Math and hit Alpha B (rref) • Go to Alpha F3 and scroll over to the right dimensions of your matrix • Enter your elements using the arrow left, right, up, and down to move to each row and column • Press enter • The last column is your answers to the system

  7. Solve using Matrices Answer is x =2 and y= 5

  8. Solve using Matrices X= 3, y=7, and z=-0.5

  9. Solve using Matrices
