November - December 2012 – NCDOT works with City of Kannapolis on new designs for 18th and 22nd St crossings to mitigate for the closure of 29th St crossing January 2013 – Right of Way Plans completed for 18th St and 22nd St and provided to City of Kannapolis for review February 2013 – Improvements presented to Kannapolis City Council March 2013 – Public Workshop March 2013 – Municipal Agreement May 2013 – Project Advertised for Construction August-September 2013 – Begin Construction Reid to N Kannapolis Project Schedule18th and 22nd Street Improvements

  3. Improvements to crossing system including 4-quadrant gates. Sidewalk proposed on north side of street. Wide lanes with curb and gutter provided on both north and south sides of 18th St. 18th Street Grade CrossingImprovements

  5. Proposed sidewalk added to north side of street. Proposed median at crossing to channelize traffic. Eastbound left turn lane from 22nd St onto Linda Ave. Northbound right turn lane from Main St onto 22nd St. Profile improvements for 22nd St to improve sight distance. Wide lanes with curb and gutter proposed on both north and south sides of 22nd St. 22nd Street Grade CrossingImprovements

  7. The existing 29th Street crossing is too close to Main Street to safely allow for the new second track. Connection to Kirk Ave (Private) on east side of tracks is maintained. 29th Street Crossing

  8. Next Steps • March 2013 – Public Workshop (date to be finalized) • March 2013 – Municipal Agreement • May 2013 – Project Advertised for Construction • August-September 2013 – Begin Construction • December 2016 – Full Project Completion of Double track project
