  1. Proposal to YPC

  2. What do you want ? From looking at your website we’ve noticed there's a section actually mentioning specifically that you would be adding images, graphics and animations. This works extremely well for us as we would like to create some for you…

  3. How we can help you? • Having seen your website, we noticed that you hold drop-in sessions to help young people to find employment. • We would love to make a promotional product such as an animation in order to encourage more young people to use the services and get more people to support the cause. • We have the relevant media skills to produce something professional but free.

  4. The Idea • A series of short animations, put to voice-overs of young people who have benefited from your services and want to tell their story. • We thought you may then want to use them for your website, so that other young people researching your organisation will see something new and relevant, and be encouraged to get involved.

  5. How will we create the animation ? We have decided that we will make a transcript of the interview because some people may be reluctant to have their voices recorded. After we have the transcripts we will find someone from college (preferably from drama) that will read it for us and we will record the audio. When the audio has been edited together we will use it to create our animation. How we visualise the animation is that we will be using the transcript and animating words to go with it and also using images to represent words. We think this will be effective because using word doesn’t distract people from subject.

  6. How we aim to carry this • We aim to carry out this project by attending one of your drop-in sessions, and gathering feedback from the young people present - in the form of written questionnaires or recorded interviews. • We will then, using the feedback gathered, each make a short animation, using our creative ideas to produce something positive and exciting that reflects the benefits of your organisation. • We will use Adobe Flash or stop-motion for our animations.

  7. R.A.S.P As creative and media students at Varndean College, we have skills in Adobe Flash as well as other production programs. We took inspiration from this post and would like to suggest our services to you in the form of making you an animation. We looked through your website to see the services you give and thought your RASP program would be a good program to make an animation for. We hope to record the voices of the refugees and use them as voice overs on an animation. We will be asking these questions; Why did you become a refugee? How did you find out about the Young People Centre? How has the Young People Centre helped you? What are your dreams for the future? The type of animation we will be creating will be produced in Flash and have a cartoon style. The animation will be abstract, using colours, shapes and words to go with the story of the voice over. However, we could produce a more conventional animation that has cartoon people and realistic surroundings. The feel created by the animation will be one of sensitivity and triumph. We want to show how the Young People Centre has helped them overcome any problems they have faced. We hope our animation can encourage refugees thinking about joining the Refugee and Asylum Seekers Project to come forward and join. We also hope that it will promote the project and the Young People Centre Organisation.

  8. Privacy Concerns • There will be no filming involved, and any interviews will be written up afterwards then re-recorded with actors, to ensure complete anonymity. Thank you for your time!
