What is an autobiographical incident? • It is a type of narrative writing. • It tells a story about an event in a person’s life. • It is written from events in the person’s memory. • It expresses the person’s thoughts and feelings.
Can you predict the outcome of a story?The Day That Wasn’t My alarm clock went off, and I jumped out of bed. I had set it the night before to make sure that I wouldn’t oversleep. Boy, was I excited! This was the first day of school, and I couldn’t wait to go back! I was anxious to see my old friends and to show off my new school clothes. I took a shower and got dressed. I put on my new Wilson Melissa shoes, my “Angel” shirt, and my new Mudd jeans. Then, I brushed my teeth, combed my hair, and put on my jewelry. I checked myself out in the floor length mirror. “Nice,” I said to myself.I gathered all of my school supplies-binder,paper, pencils, pens, single subject notebooks-and put them in my book bag.
The Day That Wasn’t”(Continued) Finally, I went downstairs to eat breakfast. I only wanted a bowl of cereal and a glass of juice.I was too excited to eat anything else. When I went into the kitchen with my book bag on my back, my mom had a strange look on her face. (At this time, I will ask my classmates to predict the outcome of this story. After they make their predictions, I will read the rest of the story.)
