  3. Family and Education Roosevelt's Dad was a Railroad business man and his Mom home schooled him. When Roosevelt was a kid he went to Canada and Europe a lot. Roosevelt went to Harvard University and Columbia law school.

  4. Family Life Roosevelt married Anna Eleanor Roosevelt March 17, 1905, and had 6 children. Anna Eleanor was born in 1906. James was born in 1907,followed by Elliot in 1910. Franklin Jr. was born in 1914, and John was born in 1916. Roosevelt had another child born in 1909, but he died as a baby. Roosevelt's wife went by her second name. Roosevelt named his first child after his wife.

  5. The Election Roosevelt chose John Nance Garner for vice president. He ran up against Herbert Hoover. Roosevelt got 472 electoral votes to Hoovers 59.

  6. Significant Events in Presidency During Roosevelt's third term he faced World War II. This issue was important because he had to send supplies to Britain or the Germans could attack America.

Interesting Facts • Roosevelt was the first and only president to serve for four terms! • Roosevelt fought the Great Depression and World War II. • His cottage at Warm Springs Georgia became known as “The Little White House”. • When Roosevelt died he was reading the papers when he complained about a head pain and collapsed. He died a few hours later.
