Core Course Core Course = 70 hour course consisting of duplicated content from across the CTE curriculum • Content standards established in Course of Study. • Objectives established by taskforce consisting of CTE teachers and administrators. • Deliver through integration, stand alone, or online.

  4. Core Course Assessment • Why? • Documents what students know regarding core content. • Lead-in to credentialing for Alabama CTE students with regard to work readiness.

  5. Big Picture • Alabama Certified Worker Credential is a state business/industry recognized certification of work readiness. The Alabama Certified Worker Credential is offered through FIT and delivered at 37 DPE sites across state. Currently FIT is an adults only program. • Core is approximately 70% of required content of FIT. • Working with AIDT on web-based applications for FIT and for the core simultaneously. • Ramp up core to equal FIT curriculum leading to Alabama Certified Worker Credentials for students exiting high school.

  7. Next Steps • Work with teachers to ensure that the content is taught in CTE courses/programs. • Assess concentrators for core content proficiency. (continue)

  8. State CTE will pay for students to be assessed in 2005-06. • TFI will establish student access numbers to which you will have access. Individual CTE Administrators will arrange with TFI representatives the details for testing. • CTE Administrators will receive all student scores and information regarding specific test items. • State CTE office will receive proficiency reports by LEA/school/program. • CTE Administrators will receive Certificates of Proficiency for students who are successful on the assessment (those who make the cut score). • State CTE office will pay for one retake if student scores 75% of cut score on original assessment. Retake will be a random selection of questions (and objectives) • All information and certificates will be received electronically. (continue)
