  3. History of Montana 1876 Battle of the little big thorn , known as custer’s last stand in which cheyenne and sioux defeated custer and more than 200 of his men in southeast Montana. Butte is the center of the region that once supplied half of U.S copper. Montana was part of the Louisiana Purchase in 1803.

  4. MOnTANA No state has as many different species of mammals as Montana. Among the approximately 100 species of mammals in Montana are elk, black bears, grizzly bears, antelope, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, moose, caribou, and mountain lions. Yellowstone National Park in southern Montana and northern Wyoming was the first national park in the nation. At Egg Mountain near Choteau, dinosaur eggs have been discovered. Miles City is known as the Cowboy Capitol.
