  3. RESPIRATORY DANGER • Retraction – severe obstruction • Accessory muscle – fatigue • Paradox - fatigue • Speech pattern • Posture

  4. CARDIOPULMONARY EXAM • Upper airway • Chest exam • Extremities • Cyanosis • Perfusion • Diaphoresis

  5. AUSCULTORY EXAM • Stridor • Wheezing • Rales • Absent/diminished breath sounds • Percussion exam

  6. NEUROLOGIC EXAM • Somnolent/comatose • Primary • secondary • Agitated/distressed • Pupillary • Motor function

  7. URGENT ANCILLARIES • Arterial or venous blood gas • cooximetry • Chest X Ray
