  1. Auricular Acupuncture – Diagnosis Through the Ear: the Blueprint of the Body. In this article, I am going to talk about a very important component of Chinese Acupuncture popularly known as Auricular Acupuncture. The origin of Auricular Acupuncture dates back to more than 2,000 years. The auricle has been used to diagnose, treat and prevent different diseases. Traditional Chinese medicine discovered that the ear is an extraordinarily powerful nexus of energy through which the entire body can be treated. The ear represents all of the body parts and organs within its concentric folds. This configuration makes it a complete microsystem for the diagnosis and treatment of various ailments. The science of healing body through ear stimulation stretched beyond China into some ancient cultures where the ear was bled, pierced, or cauterized for various treatment purposes. In India, the ancient custom that is still prevalent today, the ear of newborn baby was pierced and an earring was put on to strengthen the baby’s immune system and support healthy growth. Earrings in the middle of the ear lobe improve the eyesight as this location happens to be eye point in ear reflexology. These ancient practices have become a distant memory with the advent of modern medicine. Only a few practitioners continue to use the ear for treatment purposes. However, Dr. Paul Nogier, a physician from Lyon, France, took this olden practice and developed it into what is

  2. called as modern day Auricular Acupuncture in 1957. When he observed the occurrence of scars on the ear of patients who had been treated successfully for sciatica pain by lay practitioners, Dr.Nogier’s research lead to the “somatotopic” map of the ear, based upon the concept of an inverted “fetus” (upside-down baby) image superimposed on the ear. According his ear mapping, the body lies in the ear like a fetus in the mother’s womb. The bottom portion of the ear, the lobe represents the face, the rest of the body lies in a curled up with the back of the body, the brain, neck, spinal column lying along the outer portion of the ear while the internal organs like stomach, liver, spleen, kidney, heart, and lungs lies internally along the inner concave region. Auricular/Ear Acupuncture is an acupuncture technique similar to reflexology. The technique presumably works because of the groups of pluripotent cells containing information from the whole organism create regional organization centers representing different parts of the body through recruitment of more cortex cells dedicated to specific areas of the body. Thus stimulation of a reflex point in the ear can relieve symptoms of distant pathology for a significant duration. Many methods have been developed to augment Auricular Therapy along with the advances in modern science; however, Auricular Seed Therapy and Auricular Needle Embedding are the most popular. We can even massage Auricular points, known as ear reflexology massage. The ear has fascinated me from the moment I studied this therapy and further proof of its efficacy became clear when I started using it on my patients and started getting instant results. Simplistic, effective and natural, I felt like sharing this mode of treatment with you.Does it not make you wonder how such a small part of our body can be used for diagnosing, treating and preventing different diseases?I believe that if a human mind can invent a remote to work the T.V, it is possible for our Creator to make the Ear the remote to operate the body.
