  3. Existing Curriculum • Government rule  university has freedom to set their own curriculum based on their competency • The University is required to have: • Religion course • Civic education course

  4. Ongoing Core Problem • SOCIETY: Knowledge vs. Way of Life • FACULTY MEMBERS: • Teaching vs. Educating • Need vs. Want • Perception that moral/ethic is only the responsibility of religion lecturer and leader (e.g. Kyai, Priests)

  5. Proposed Solution Meeting of the University Chancellors / Presidents Association (May, 2005) Title: civic education revitalization We committed to cultivate graduates who are not only good/expert in their field but also have high integrity

  6. Implementation • STUDENTS: • Give extra curricular activity in religion studies, which is designed to be a pre-requisite prior to their final report exam (before graduating from the University) • FACULTY MEMBERS and ADMINISTRATION STAFF: • Give weekly religion studies to all faculty and administration staff
