  8. Master Energy Systems and Policies • INDUSTRY INTERNSHIP • Subjects related to the master problematics • Work for 4 to 6 months in the energy industry in France (or in the EU and EEUU) • Important experience to find a job quickly after the master, in France • Get paid (~ 800 - 1000 euros a month)

  9. Master Energy Systems and Policies INDUSTRY INTERNSHIP EXAMPLES Cooling and heating biomass fuel: EU market development perspectives Sizing and life cycle cost of solar photovoltaic projects Investment options in electric power plants for a newcomer on the French grid Life cycle cost analysis of a solar thermal power plant Lithium market prospective and electric cars Fusion acquisition and investment in the energy field

  10. Master Energy Systems and Policies After the master • Educate the « engineer-strategists » of the Energy domain • Able to take part in the building up of the energy policies of their firm or country • Keeping in touch with major French firms and institutional actors • Employment opportunities: component manufacturing companies (cars, aircraft, power stations and infrastructure), major operators in electricity and gas supply networks, agencies and regulators in the energy field (e.g. Ademe or CRE), service industries: e.g. energy services in which major French companies excel, engineering and design departments and specialized consultancies, national, regional and municipal authorities, some international organizations.

  11. First position Firms in France and in the world PSA, AREVA, Total, Dalkia, Agroénergie Développement (Startup biofuels), Sophia Antipolis Energie Développement (Startup solar thermal), Cabinet Francis Woog (E3C Conseil – Bldg and equipment energy consultancy), Enea consulting (Water and energy in developping countries), BRGM, OAKRIDGE consultant (CORYS – nuclear), LCG Consulting, Air Liquide, Martifer (Eviva), Enel And laboratories (PhD or project leaders) University of British Columbia (PhD in solar cells), MIT (PhD in energy technologies), ETZ Zurich, Project leader wind power, Energy Center Mines ParisTech (PhD Weather sensistivity of the electricity consumption)

  12. Employment situation in France? • Remains favorable in the energy sector • Very important needs in energy in general • nuclear (AREVA, EDF) • Electricity & gas services (Suez GDF, Schneider Electric, Dalkia, Elyo …. ) • Favorable context for renewable energies (solar photovoltaic, thermal and wind power generation). • Important needs of qualified people in energy efficiency in buildings (the State is aiming at ambitious kWh/m2 objectives). For engineers, statistics on time to get the first job.
