  1. NUCLEAR REACTOR

  2. CLASSIFICATION OF REACTOR ACCORDING TO THEIR USE

  3. HETEROGENEOUS REACTORS: In these reactors fuel elements is in form of rods, plates hollow cylinders arranged in regular lattice pattern with moderator. HOMOGENEOUS REACTOR: IN these reactor fuel and moderator are mixed in the form of solution.

  4. RESEARCH REACTOR: To supply neutrons for research and radio active isotope manufacturing. PRODUCTION RAECTOR: They convert fertile to fissile material. POWER REACTORS: Utilization of fission energy produced in reactor and convert to useful power. CLASSIFICATION OF REACTOR ACCORDING TO THEIR PURPOSE

  5. Principle of nuclear fission reactor:Nuclear fission reactors are based on nuclear fission chain reaction for a fissionable material such as 92U235. each fission of92U235 releases 2 to 3 neutrons and energy q=2oo MeV.

  6. NUCLEAR FISSION

  7. GENERAL ASPECTS OF NUCLEAR RTEACTOR DESIGN

  8. NUCLEAR FISSION REACTOR

  9. To generate electric power . To produce radio isotopes, which find application in field of medicine, agriculture and industry. To produce neutron beam of high intensity ,used in research and treatment of cancer. USES OF NUCLEAR FISSION REACTORS

  10. BASICS OF OF NUCLEAR FUSION REACTORPRINCIPLEThe nuclear fusion reactor is based on principle of controlled exothermic thermo nuclear fusion reaction.

  11. CONSTRUCTION

  12. Fuel used in nuclear fusion reactor(like deuterium) can be easily obtained from natural(ordinary) water which is present in abundant amount. Nuclear fusion is a clean process, as it does not leave behind any harmful radio active waste after reaction has take place. Also in nuclear fusion nuclei are lighter the energy released per unit mass is much more than corresponding quantity in nuclear fission involving heavy nuclei. ADVANTAGES
