  2. What is a Main Point? Discussion Item Three – A main point can only be detected by close reading. Discussion Item One – A main point is a central idea upon which an argument is be based. Discussion Item Two – A main point is NOT an arbitrary sentence taken out of context. Discussion Item Four – A main point in an essay should be readily detectible in the thesis statement, which guides the reader to an understanding of the argument that will be made. Discussion Item Five Main points in journal articles can usually be found in the topic sentences in the body of the article. Discussion Item Six – Main points may also be found in the conclusion of essays and journal articles, where the author often restates the main points.

  3. Mission APA You were asked to post the main points and the links to the full-text articles to the Discussion Board established on Angel for that purpose. You were previously asked to choose 2 journals posted on Angel in the Links to Journal handout under Lessons. You were asked to find two articles from each of the journals, and to state two main points from each article for a total of four main points.

  4. Today in Class, you will do the following: You will do this assignment independently of asking the instructor for assistance. Reformulate your main points if needed. For each main point, rewrite that point with both an in-text and a parenthetical citation according to the APA presentation and handout on Angel. You will submit this assignment to the dropbox provided on Angel before you leave class today. This should be able to quickly and easily accomplish these tasks if you completed the assignment that was due before class today.
