  2. Getting access to resources • you have 24 hour access to the Library’s electronic resources • you can log in at home, work, the Library, Business Faculty labs, UTS computer labs • how? You need to activate your UTS webmail username and passwordhttps://email.itd.uts.edu.au/email/

  3. Company information • Company 360 – annual reports • Business Source Premier – academic articles • Google scholar – with UTS holdings • Factiva and Newsbank – newspaper articles

  8. Getting Academic articles • Go to: • Use Business Source Complete • Google Scholar

  9. What are refereed journals? • refereed journals have an editorial board to approve publication, a reference list and up to date contact details • they are also known as peer reviewed articles • state of the art research

  10. Business Source Complete • Use Business Source Complete for academic articles and commentary about industries

  11. Using • many databases do not hold the full text of an article • use the link to find it on another UTS subscription database • it will take you to the article if UTS has a subscription

Database search techniques • use the connecting words and/or • the truncation symbol * enables a word to be searched by its stem, eg. manag* searches for manage, manager, management, etc. • the wildcard symbol ? ensures different spellings are searched, eg. Globali?ationsearches for globalisation (AUS) or globalization (USA)

  13. Using Google Scholar • Type this URL into your browser http://scholar.google.com.au.ezproxy.lib.uts.edu.au/ • UTS holdings will be available • Refworks and Endnote can be added to the preferences

  14. Why use Google Scholar? • full text @uts has been added to the records • references can be imported to both Endnote and Refworks by changing Scholar preferences • Scholar includes “cited” references i.e other articles which have used the research

  16. Adding Endnote and Refworks • Change Scholar preferences to link to Refworks and Endnote

  17. Refworks and Endnote • Go to the Library website – type in Endnote and follow the download instructions • Also download Harvard (UTS) • For Refworks – use the Library catalogue and type in Refworks • Make a new account and use the “Output style manager” to choose Harvard (UTS)
