  2. What is a lake? • A large body of still freshwater that is surrounded by land

  3. What are the Great Lakes? The Great Lakes are a collection of freshwater lakes in the northeastern part of America. They are found in-between the United States and Canada.

  4. What lakes are included in the Great Lakes? • Lake Michigan • Lake Superior • Lake Huron • Lake Ontario • Lake Erie

  5. What do the Great Lakes have to offer? • The Great Lakes are the largest group of freshwater lakes in the world!!! • Many fish such as trout and salmon can be found in the Great Lakes • The Great Lakes are surrounded by land

  6. Why is the St. Lawrence River important? • The St. Lawrence River links the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean!!!

  7. What is a gulf? • A gulf is a body of water that is a part of an ocean or sea that is almost surrounded by land

  8. Where is the Gulf of Mexico? • The Gulf of Mexico is a body of water along the southern United States and Mexico.

  9. What is the Continental Divide??? • The Continental Divide, also called the Great Divide, is a natural boundary line separating waters that flow into the Atlantic Ocean or Gulf of Mexico from those that flow into the Pacific Ocean. • The Continental Divide runs along the peak of the Rocky Mountains.

  10. What are coastal plains??? You know that a COAST is land next to an ocean. You know that a PLAIN is an area of large flat land. A coastal plain is a large area of flat land that is next to an ocean!!!

  11. Where are the Atlantic Coastal Plains??? • YOU live in them!!! • The Atlantic Coastal Plains are in the southeastern part of the United States next to the Atlantic Ocean

  12. Where are the Great Plains??? • The Great Plains are located in the Central part of the United States

  13. What is a basin??? • A basin is a round area of land surrounded by higher land

  14. Where is the Great Basin??? • The Great Basin is located in the Western part of the United States

  15. What is a valley?? • A valley is low land between hills or mountains

  16. Where is Death Valley??? • Death Valley is a desert located in the Southwestern part of the United States, primarily in California. • It is the lowest point in the United States
