  1. Welcome to Mrs. Rassman’s 5th Grade Class 2011-2012

Teacher’s Goals • Provide students with a safe, nurturing learning environment. • Facilitate deeper thinking. • Encourage independence and responsibility. • Develop partnership with parents in order to aide in children’s academic success. • Supply students with a variety of opportunities to succeed and grow. • Hold students to high but obtainable expectations.

  3. Goals for Students • Become better organized. • Assume greater accountability for own learning. • Make a personal commitment to strive for their best daily. • Make education a top priority. • Meet and exceed expectations. • Gain a sense of pride in achievements resulting from their hard-work and efforts.

  4. Classroom Rules • Be Respectful: of self, of others, of school. • Be Prepared. • Be on time. • Follow all other campus rules.

  5. Mrs. Rassman’s Expectations • Fill out Agenda Daily and have signed by a responsible adult. • Have assignments completed on time and to the best of your abilities. • Ask for help when needed. • Correct any poorly done work. • Have all materials ready before class begins. • Bring a positive attitude and an open mind to class. Every day has the potential for greatness, and is an opportunity to learn and grow.

  6. STAAR Testing • Unfamiliar territory. • More Rigorous than TAKS. • Higher Order Thinking Skills Required. • Higher % of questions from Readiness Standards, and fewer Supporting Standards. • Goal is to test greater depth of knowledge.
