  1. Welcome To Mrs. DeFeo’s Phenomenal 5th Grade Class Please take a moment to look at the t-shirts hanging in front of the windows. Can you guess which one is your child’s?

  2. General Information Students are recognized on their birthdays in class and on the news. Students may bring in a healthy, easy to eat, no mess snack for the afternoon In order to keep our campus safe please sign in during school hours. BYOT: We will have BYOT on early release Wednesdays. Students may bring in adobe flash ready devices such as laptops or tablets, no phones please. A release of liability form must be signed prior to bringing in the device. Students are able to access the Pinnacle /VIMS grade book from our class website using the #1alpha code and their birthdate. Parents were sent home logins several weeks ago for the grade book. Our class website www.defeo5.wikispaces.com Please sign up for Remind 101.

  3. Academic Policies • Summative grades are timed tests, usually from the district. Accommodations are applied for students with 504’s and IEP’s. There are no retakes on a reading summative. • Formative assessments may be revisited one time by the student for ½ credit of the corrected problems. • Homework is always due the next day unless otherwise stated. If it is not completed students will use recess to complete it. Class work can become homework if it is not completed during the allotted time during the school day.

  4. Forms to sign and/or take with you • Please sign up for a conference at the back table. • Please sign the PG movie permission sheet and the BYOT release form and place it in the pink basket located on the back table. • If you have not joined Remind 101 please do so. It is a valuable tool for communication.
