  1. STUDIES IN GENESIS January 12, 2011 Apostle Ronald C. Hill, Sr.

  2. FACT REVIEW • The first five books of the Bible are commonly called the Pentateuch.

  3. FACT REVIEW • The Jews refer to the Pentateuch as “The Torch” and they treat it as the most important part of their Bible.

  4. FACT REVIEW • The third common title of their first five books is “The Book of Moses”

  5. Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

  6. “In the beginning God” The first four words of the Bible form the foundation for faith. If you believe these four words, then you can believe all that follow in the Bible.

  7. Genesis 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

  8. One of several interpretations of the Genesis account of creation, the creation-reconstruction view, says that between verses one(1) and two(2) a great catastrophe occurred, perhaps the fall of

  9. satan. This caused God’s original, perfect creation to become without form and void

  10. Proponents of this view, point out that the word translated was “HAYETHA” could also be translated “had become”. Thus the earth had become waste and empty.

  11. The God of Creation: God is revealed in the Bible as an infinite, external self-existent being, who is the first cause of all that is. In other words, God existed eternally and infinitely before creating the finite universe.

  12. The Bible does not discuss the subject of evolution. However, the Biblical view of creation is not in conflict with science; rather, it is in conflict with any worldview that denies God as the creator.

  13. The world is not a product of blind chance and probability; God is the one and only creator. Simply put “HE CREATED IT!”

  14. Genesis 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

  15. The image of the Spirit of God hovering over the waters is similar to a mother bird caring for and protecting it’s young.

  16. A. The entire Trinity, not just the Father, had a role in creation. 1. The son Himself is the powerful word through whom God Created all things.

  17. St. John 1:1 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

  18. St. John 1:3 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

  19. Colossians 1:16 For by him were all things created , that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him

  20. Hebrews 1:2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds.

  21. 2. The Holy Spirit had an active role in the work of creation. The Hebrew word for “spirit” is “RUAH” and it is translated as breath, wind and air.

  22. 2. The Holy Spirit had an active role in the work of creation. The Hebrew word for “spirit” is “RUAH” and it is translated as breath, wind and air.

  23. Psalms 33.6 6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made ; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.

  24. Job 33:4 The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.

  25. Psalms 104:30 Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created : and thou renewest the face of the earth.

  26. The method God used in creation was the power of His word. Over and Over is stated “And God said;”

  27. Genesis 1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

  28. Genesis 1:6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.

  29. Genesis 1:9 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear : and it was so.

  30. Genesis 1:11 And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.

  31. Genesis 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

  32. Genesis 1:20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.

  33. Genesis 1:24 And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.

  34. Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the

  35. Genesis 1:26 cont. fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

  36. God spoke the heavens and earth into being; before God creative word went forth, they had no prior existence.

  37. Psalms 33: 6, 9 6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his Mouth. 9 For he spake , and it was done; he commanded , and it stood fast.

  38. Psalms 148:5 Let them praise the name of the LORD: for he commanded , and they were created .

  39. Isaiah 48:13 Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.

  40. Romans 4:17 (As it is written , I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed , even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

  41. Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
