  6. Metropolitan Planning Organization • As the MPO Eastgate is responsible for Transportation Planning and Programming under MAP21 • Partners: FHWA, FTA, ODOT

  8. ARC Process - Timeline • Pre-Application period April – June • Projects must meet at least one ARC Fed/State Goal • Full Applications Due November

Eligible Applicants • Political subdivisions (county, city, village) • Educational institutions (school district and vocational school districts, colleges and universities) • Public institutions (port authorities, libraries) • Non-profit Organizations (community improvement corporations, social service agencies)

  10. Types of Projects: • Construction • Water, Sewer, Industrial Park Improvements, Rail Improvements • Non-Construction • Education, Training, Computer Equipment, Broadband • Access Road

  11. County Eligibility Funding Request Level • Distressed 80% • At-Risk 70% • Transitional 50% • Competitive 30% • ARC is utilized to fill final gap in funding • Maximum funding request up to $250,000

  12. What makes a good project? • Does it meet an ARC goal • Funding commitments in place • Local and Regional project support • Job creation/retention • Is a Basic Agency required/secured

  13. Project Examples • Marcellus/Utica Welder Training Program Train 60 welders p/year in downhill welding skills specific to shale techniques. Jobs retained-71, created-5 • Wastewater Equalization Equipment Purchase/install 13,000 gallon flow equalization equipment to improve waste water treatment. Serving-1 business, Jobs retained-240, created-7

Project Examples • Broadband Installation 3 miles of fiber optic cable, serving 2 industrial parks, 32 businesses, jobs retained-735, Created-94 • Construction/Installation of Interceptor/Sewer Project 6,600 LF Sewer serving-17 businesses, 32-households, Jobs retained-224, created-13. Basic Agency: OEPA
