  2. 1. Timeline • Finish your timelines and print them out. DON’T FORGET TO TYPE YOUR NAME. (You should only dedicate 10 minutes to this). • By now, you should have decided on a topic for your PowerPoint.

  3. 2. PowerPoint Topic • The following topics have been chosen already: 1.Hasmonean Monarchy in Israel. 2.Macabeeas, Judah. I have left a sheet with Ms. Martus, where you need to write down the topic that you will be working on. You can’t do a topic that has been chosen by someone else. ASK MS. MARTUS TO SHOW YOU THE SHEET.

Can’t think of a topic? • Take a look at some additional topics: 1.Describe the monotheistic religion of the Israelites. • The believe that there is only one God. • The Ten Commandments • The emphasis on individual worth and personal responsibility. • The belief that all people must adhere to the same moral obligations whether ruler or ruled. • The Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) as part of the history of early Israel.

  5. Can’t think of a topic? 2. Describe the unification of the tribes of Israel under Kings Saul, David, and Solomon, including David’s founding of Jerusalem as his capital city in 100 BC/BCE and the building of the first temple of Solomon. 3. Explain the expulsion/dispersion of the Jews to other lands (referred to as the Diaspora) after the destruction of the second temple in Jerusalem in 70 AD/CE, and the renaming of the country by the Romans. 4. Identify the ancient Israelites, or Hebrews, trace their migrations from Mesopotamia to the land called Canaan, and explain the role of Abraham and Moses in their history.

  6. Can’t think of a topic? 5. Ancient Hebrew cities and towns and the geography of the ancient Hebrew homeland. 6. The Dead Sea Scrolls. The student(s) who chooses this should be prepared to add extra time on this topic and will earn extra credit for a well researched PowerPoint presentation. 7. The Hebrew alphabet and writing. How was it connected to the Phoenician alphabet? What was Aramaic?

  7. 3. Start your PowerPoint Your presentation should consist of the following: • At least 5 slides with information about your topic. Each slide should have a title. • At least 5 graphics. • At least 5 transitions. • Five objects. • Five animations. • A quiz with 5 a-d questions and their corresponding hot-spots. • At least 2 action buttons. • Two slides with an original background. • One slide with a correct citation of the web-site sources (including the pictures) used. If you can’t remember how to cite your sources, use the following CITATION MAKER. FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS IN THE HOMEPAGE.
