The St Luke’s Retail Project was established in 2010 • The aim of the project is to: • Create increased sustainable income for patient care • Create awareness of St Luke’s Hospice mission: TO PROVIDE PALLIATIVE CARE FOR IMPROVED QUALITY OF LIFE AND TO ENABLE PEOPLE TO DIE WITH DIGNITY St Luke’s HospiceTHE AIM OF THE RETAIL PROJECT

The organization has 11 community hospices situated throughout the greater Cape Town area • St Luke’s is one of the biggest hospices in South Africa • The organization offers their service of care irrespective of the patients’ ability to pay • St Luke’s Hospice needs at least R30m per annum to care for their growing patient numbers • We currently care for 860 patients a month • It costs about R3000 per month to care for one patient St Luke’s HospiceSOME INTERESTING FACTS

In order to create increased sustainable income for patient care, the charity shops sell donated goods • The shops are totally reliant on donations of goods from companies, corporate organizations, schools & the general public • St Luke’s Hospice currently has 4 charity shops & a bookshop that raise funds for the organization • In the financial year 2011-2012, the shops contributed R2m in income towards patient care St Luke’s HospiceTHE ROLE OF THE CHARITY SHOPS
