  1. JESUS THE TEMPLATE FOR OUR VICTORY OVER TRIALS AND TEMPATIONS Blessed Sunday 24 April in The Year of our Lord 2016

  2. Main Scripture Text Corinthians 10:12-13 12 So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! 13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. OUR VISION Loving Christ, Loving People, Building Hope, Expanding His Kingdom Impacting our community with the love of Christ!

  3. GOD DOES NOT TEMPT US James 1:13-14 Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am being tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust.  Temptation is not sin Hebrews 4 15 “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are--yet he did not sin”. OUR VISION Loving Christ, Loving People, Building Hope, Expanding His Kingdom Impacting our community with the love of Christ!

  4. GENERAL DEFINITIONS Temptation according to Cambridge Dictionary “the wish to do or have something that you know you should not do or have” or “something that makes you want to do or have something that you know you should not” Trial is a “test, usually over a limited period of time, to discover how effective or suitable something or someone is” OUR VISION Loving Christ, Loving People, Building Hope, Expanding His Kingdom Impacting our community with the love of Christ!

  5. TEMPTATION WILL COME Luke 4:1-2 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry. 14 Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside. We are tempted differently Luke 4:13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season. OUR VISION Loving Christ, Loving People, Building Hope, Expanding His Kingdom Impacting our community with the love of Christ!

  6. JESUS THE TEMPLATE FOR OUR VICTORY • So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! • No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind • And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear • But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. OUR VISION Loving Christ, Loving People, Building Hope, Expanding His Kingdom Impacting our community with the love of Christ!

  7. COUNT IT ALL JOY • James 1:2-4 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into • divers temptations; 3 Knowing this, that the trying of your • faith worketh patience. 4 But let patience have her perfect • work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. • James 1:12 • Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is • tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath • promised to them that love him. OUR VISION Loving Christ, Loving People, Building Hope, Expanding His Kingdom Impacting our community with the love of Christ!

  8. OUR FAITH IS OF GREATER WORTH THAN GOLD • 1 Peter 1:6-7 In all this you greatly rejoice, though • now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief • in all kinds of trials. 7 These have come so that the • proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth • than gold, which perishes even though refined by • fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus • Christ is revealed. OUR VISION Loving Christ, Loving People, Building Hope, Expanding His Kingdom Impacting our community with the love of Christ!

  9. IN ALL SITUATIONS LET GOD BE GOD • Isaiah 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither • Are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens • are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your • ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. • Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for • good to them that love God, to them who are the called • according to his purpose”. OUR VISION Loving Christ, Loving People, Building Hope, Expanding His Kingdom Impacting our community with the love of Christ!

  10. HIS GRACE IS SUFFICIENT • 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 Each time he said, “My grace is all • you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I • am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the • power of Christ can work through me. That’s why I take • pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, • hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for • Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong. OUR VISION Loving Christ, Loving People, Building Hope, Expanding His Kingdom Impacting our community with the love of Christ!

  11. CONCLUSION We look to Him John 16:33 - These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. We need to be more dependent on the Lord Philippians 4:6-7 - Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Philippians 4:13 - I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Every trial and temptations has the seeds of Victory in Him OUR VISION Loving Christ, Loving People, Building Hope, Expanding His Kingdom Impacting our community with the love of Christ!
