Drawing Inferences 1968 there were 3 parties 1992 went back to Democrats There was a big change in 1976 to Dems 1980 went back to Republicans and kept majority in 84 Iran Hostage Crisis lowered Carter’s approval ratings Many Americans did not trust Republicans after Watergate Reagan was effective at helping end the Cold War Reagan was a popular President. Watergate helped Carter get elected. Many factors contribute to how candidates/parties win elections.
