  1. Langley AFB Reintegration Process

  2. Purpose To successfully reintegrate Airmen with families, friends/community, and work centers following a 30+ day deployment

  3. Goals • To provide all Airmen returning from extended TDYs with a systematic reintegration into their communities • To identify and assist individuals who may benefit from additional education, services or counseling if: • Exposed to unusual danger • Experienced great personal loss • Witnessed disturbing events • Family problems • To support normal readjustment following deployment • Ensure chain of command is prepared to support returning Airmen • Provide ongoing support to returning Airmen and their families

  4. Concept • A gradual readjustment from the deployed environment to the home community is beneficial to Airmen and their families • Gradual reintegration provides time for: • Sufficient medical screening and follow-up • Reintegration into community • Gradual adjustment of families • Communication/relationship awareness • Completion of required reintegration/personal tasks

  5. Timelines • Pre-Return Phase • 5 to 30 days before return • Reintegration Phase • Arrival to end of home-coming leave • Follow Up Phase • Up to 60 days after arrival

  6. Pre-Return PhaseDeployed Location • Return and Reunion Overview • Supplement briefing with tri-fold brochure or Return and Reunion CD/Video • Complete DD Form 2796 • NLT 5 days prior

Pre-Return Phase(Deployed location - Home Station) • Deployed leadership (1st Sgt/Commander) informs home station of any significant events which might require special attention • Identification of Airmen requiring special attention • Cooperative effort • Front line leadership • Home Station/Deployed First Sergeants/Commanders

  8. Pre-Return PhaseHome Station • Return and Reunion Overview • Offered to spouses and significant others • Conducted at FSC and at units upon request • Interactive Briefing • Chapel/Life Skills/FSC can facilitate

  9. Reintegration PhaseDay 1 – Arrival at Home Station • Welcome home ceremony or met at airport • Collect DD Form 2796/Deployed Medical Record • Turn in weapons (if applicable) • Turn in classified information (if applicable) • Provided reintegration schedule • Returnee provides contact information

Reintegration PhaseDay 2 – In -Processing • UDM should supply member with checklist and list of items to bring to processing (i.e. receipts, mobags, etc.) • Unit representative should be present to sign travel voucher • Process length depends on group size, 1.5 to 2.5 hours • Weapon turn in – LRS courtesy storage after hours, individuals arrange cleaning and inspection with CATM. Contact MOC for on-call LRS representative • DO NOT PLAN TRAVEL ON THIS DAY!!!!

Reintegration PhaseDay 2 – In -Processing • 0800 - Sign in with PRU, receive in-processing checklist, introduction • 0830 - Briefings ( Chaplain, Life Skills, Family Advocacy, Family Support, Finance, Ground Safety, Force Health Management) • Complete post-deployment health survey • 1000 - Process through: Medical – Deployed medical record review. Set up referral appointments. Blood draw. Mobags – Turn in gear or clear hand receipt if gear was kept in the AOR Finance – Complete travel voucher • 1130 - Released for unit in-processing and completion of any checklist items member was unable to accomplish.

  12. Reintegration PhaseDay 3 - Unit Activities • Meet with UDM/CSS for unit requirements • Turn in completed checklist to UDM where it will be maintained in member’s mobility record. • Turn in contingency equipment • Personnel actions • Commander’s pre-leave visit • Leadership "Eyes-on" opportunity • Member can then be released by the unit for recovery period.
