  2. eDiscovery in Office 365 • eDiscovery is process to identify and deliver information that can be used as evidence in legal cases. • In Office 365, eDiscovery searches content throughout the office 365 account. • There are different sections in office 365 security that uses eDiscovery to search legal case contents such as: • 365 Security & Compliance Center: Uses Content Search Tool (eDiscovery search) • Security & Compliance Center: Identify, hold, and export content from mailbox and sites (eDiscovery cases)

  3. Errors Office 365 to PST Export The export in Office 365 to PST is done through eDiscovery Export Tool. While executing this export process, some error occurs that lead to the incomplete export process with an error message shown. Thus, let’s checkout the common errors held while exporting ofiice365 data to PST • While using Internet Explorer 9.0 or later, the application tries to connect and crashes anonymously. • While using third-party browsers, an error message is received: “Cannot Start the application. Contact application vendor for assistance”.

  4. Another eDiscovery Error The eDiscovery PST Export tool becomes unresponsive and stops the email export.

Reasons of Failure The below are some reasons found in eDiscovery that resist Office 365 from starting/completing the process of export mailbox items to PST. Let’s get to know them one by one:  • Using Internet Explorer 9.0 or its above version and Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 or later version not installed in the system. • Using an outgoing proxy server and connection times out. • No Click Once browser extension installed on browser. • If the local intranet zone settings are not set up correctly in the Internet Explorer (IE) browser.

  7. Method to Overcome eDiscovery Issue An another method is found to export the Office 365 data to PST file. This method does not require the eDiscovery at all. Also, there is no issue of data loss found in this method of migration.  The method is known to asSysTools Office 365 Export Software. • This tool allows to export selective data among single or multiple Office 365 accounts • Provides filtering capability to export only few data rather migrating the whole account data. • The software can export Office 365 to PST/EML/MSG file formats exported with different naming conventions.

  8. SysTools O365 Export Working • Perform these steps to get O365 data exported to PST: • Download and install SysTools Office 365 Export Tool. Run the software. •  Login with O365 credentials. Use Admin or User account. • For Admin account: • Choose Is Admin check box. • Select user IDs to export their data • Common step for both accounts: Select Email format (PST) • Check Split option and specify limit. • Apply Filters for specific (few) data. • Specify the location of created PST files. • Start the Export Process.
