Purposes • Preview HCAT and alignment work for IC Implementation Plans (Outcome 4) • Update Outcome 5 (PD) • Demonstrate CEI survey to collect data for the Self Study for Outcome 6 • Use documents to see how existing PD initiatives support IC implementation • Examine recommended PD for IC implementation, 2010 and beyond

Outcome 4 • Preview HCAT • Introduce the tasks Leadership Teams will need to do in preparation for alignment work • These tasks can be the first actions on Implementation Plans for Outcome 4

Outcome 6 • Review the CEI survey for collecting data for the Self Study • http://survey.aea.k12.ia.us/survey/93559/12ae/ • Determine its usefulness for 1) collecting baseline data (for the Self Study) and 2) monitoring progress over time
Outcomes 5 and 6 (continued) Jigsaw Activity: Discussion Guide Step One: Everyone reads page 1 Step Two: District teams decide who on their team will study part 1, part 2 and part 3 and send them to that study group (with the study groups breaking into sub- groups if necessary) Step Three: Team members then return to teach their colleagues
Initiatives to Support the Iowa Core • Each district team selects one DE initiative document to study to what extent it supports Iowa Core implementation • Select the initiative which most closely represents what you are currently doing
Recommended Professional Development • Each district uses a set of 4 pieces of chart paper and answers the same two questions regarding the four areas of PD • When completed, each district considers all 4 areas and decides which one (or ones) will be your primary focus and numbers them
Professional Development • Discuss possible PD plans for 2010/11 to support IC implementation and see how those activities fit into the Implementation Plan • Fill out the blank form with the major PD initiative you are considering for next year and transfer the tasks from your charts • Identify possible connections with the AEA Service Plan (IDASP)
Preview Session Five This will be a guided working session for: • Entering Self-Study Consensus Scores • Using a working document to work on a first draft of your Implementation Plan which can then be transferred to the on-line version
