  3. Ancient Aztec • The Aztec is located near the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific Ocean. They lived in the Atzlan civilization but they got kicked out of the civilization by sacrificing the princess of Atzlan. The Aztec civilization is very interesting, Aztec people lived from 1325 C.E-A.D 1521. The Aztec civilization settles on the shore of lake Texcoco in 1325 C.E. Aztec's symbol is on the old Mexican flag it has an eagle preached on a prickly pear representing the founding of Tenochtitlan , the Aztec empire.

AZTEC CIVILIZATION • Beginning • Located between Gulf of Mexico and Pacific Ocean • 1325 C.E- 1521 A.D. • Settled on the shore of Lake Texcoco • Job • Commoners: farming, trading and hunting • Nobles: were in army. • Food • Mexicans eat maize, beans, squash and other vegetables • Of course chocolati and little bit of meat

AZTEC CIVILIZATION • Clothing • Emperor and his nobles wore cloth made from cotton and wore sandals • Commoners wore clothes made of maguey cloth and went barefoot • Traditions • Play lot of games and have many ceremonies • Tlachtli • They lived in large groups • Girls are expected to get married at the age of 12-15 and men in their late teens

AZTEC CIVILIZATION • Religion • Believed in gods • Most important god is Huitzilopochtli: god of sun and war • Quetzalcoatl: god of creation • Gave gods gifts to keep them happy: animal and human sacrifices (even children) • Ending • In 1519 Hernan Cortes and his army came to the Yucatan peninsula • He defeated Moctezuma and the Aztec • August 13, 1521, Aztec is ruined
