  6. Voice

  7. VOICE(Would you keep reading this piece if it was longer?) • Written by a real person who cares about the message • Style • Tone • Appropriate for the topic and audience

  9. WORD CHOICE(Do the words and phrases create vivid pictures in your mind?) • Strong vocabulary • Sounds natural • Just right words and phrases

  10. Sentence Fluency

  11. SENTENCE FLUENCY (Do you feel the words and phrase flow together as you read it aloud?) • Writing has rhythm and flow • Change sentence lengths with purpose • Differences in sentence beginnings

  13. CONVENTIONS (How much editing would have to be done to be ready to share with an outside source?) • Spelling, punctuation, capitalization, grammar, paragraphing • Clean and polished
