Then I think about everything I’ve already read. That usually helps. But sometimes I know I will learn more if I just keep reading. • As you read “Dot and Jabber” ask yourself: • Did I understand what I read? • Do I need to reread what I just read? • Do I need to review what I have learned so far?

Do these sentences use clear, exact words? • “That’s part of the thing.” said Dot. “Let’s look for stuff.” • “Okay!” shouted Jabber. “Because we’re those guys!” • What words did the author use in place of the underlined words? The author’s word choices gave us a much clearer picture of what Dot and Jabber are talking about. Choose a better word for the underlined words. Dot and Jabber go to the meadow. (scamper, race) A squirrel makes holes. (digs, pokes)
