  6. Wavelength Conversion • Comparatively older topic • BUT comparatively sparsely treated in literature • Must survey literature nearly completely • Must discuss physical devices to some extent • Identify research directions • Explain two papers from same direction

  7. Control Plane • Almost entirely based on reading and explaining standards • Must include either ASON or ITU-T standards • Contrast with GMPLS • More reference oriented, but not necessarily easy • May take help of research papers or maganize articles
