  2. EL PASADO 29 DE NOVIEMBRE CELEBRAMOS EN MTENDERE EL “ALBINO OPEN DAY”. EL PROPÓSITO ERA REALIZAR REVISIONES OFTALMOLÓGICAS Y DERMATOLÓGICAS A NUESTROS BENEFICIARIOS ASÍ COMO OFRECER UN PUNTO DE ENCUENTRO PARA COMPARTIR INQUIETUDES Y EXPERIENCIAS.MÁS DE 110 PERSONAS ASISTIERON AL EVENTO, ENTRE BENEFICIARIOS, ACOMPAÑANTES, PERSONAL MÉDICO, DONANTES Y MIEMBROS DE OTRAS ORGANIZACIONES INVITADAS.

EL EVENTO ESTUVO PRESIDIDO POR LA HERMANA PERPETUAL KADYAMPAKENI, DIRECTORA DEL HOSPITAL Y COORDINADO POR DASTON LEONARD, RESPONSABLE DEL PROGRAMA DE ALBINOS.A CARGO DE LAS REVISIONES OFTALMOLÓGICAS ESTUVIERON JOAQUÍN TORRES E IGNACIO MORENO, CON EL APOYO DE JOSÉ LUIS PELAYO, TODOS LLEGADOS DESDE SEVILLA.EL DR. MARK, DEL “BILLY RIORDAN MEMORIAL CLINIC” REALIZÓ LAS CONSULTAS DERMATOLÓGICAS.TAMBIÉN PARTICIPARON BONFACE MASSAH, RESPONSABLE DE TAAM (THE ALBINO ASSOCIATION OF MALAWI) Y STELLA, CUYA EMPRESA DONÓ LAS GAFAS DE SOL QUE SE ENTREGARON A LOS ASISTENTES.

REVISIONES OFTALMOLÓGICAS • El equipo de oftalmológos españoles atendió a 72 pacientes. • La mayoría de ellos presentaban graves problemas de visión: miopía, hipermetropía, astigmatismo o nistagmus. • A todos los beneficiarios se les hizo entrega de gafas de sol donadas por la óptica ANC, de Lilongwe. • Se recogieron los datos correspondientes a cada paciente para tratar de conseguir gafas graduadas personalizadas para todos.

REVISIONES DERMATOLÓGICAS • El Dr. Mark estuvo a cargo de las consultas, asistido por Levaast Chauma, enfermero del hospital. • Se detectaron 8 posibles casos de cáncer de piel que se derivarán al Kamuzu Central Hospital de Lilongwe. • Se detectaron y trataron in situ 2 casos pediátricos con infecciones leves de piel. • A todos los beneficiarios se les hizo entrega de cremas solares, donadas por el Departamento de Dermatología del Kamuzu Central Hospital.
