Sector Councils: Partnerships at Work • Improve quality of the Canadian labour force. • Assist industries to be more flexible in meeting changing competitive demands. • Industry-driven, government-funded association designed to enhance an economic sector’s competitiveness by: • Supporting projects that develop tools to help employers retain, renew, and recruit skilled workers; • Finding co-operative solutions to common human resource challenges; and • Working together to identify and address emerging human resource issues. • Sector Council Program proven model for dealing with a variety of human resource issues.

Our Sector Council: Canadian Agricultural Human Resource Council VISION: • A thriving and internationally competitive Canadian agriculture sector with a skilled, well-trained, and technologically advanced workforce. MISSION: • To identify and develop innovative solutions to human resources issues in response to the needs identified by the Canadian agriculture sector. SCOPE: • Designed for primary agriculture, and driven by farmers and farm employees.

Priority Action Areas of CAHRC • Collect basic labour market information to establish baselines and identify needs. • Identify deterrents, impediments and best practices to sound human resource management in the sector, and ways to address them. • Identify new sources of labour and ways to access them. • Compile comprehensive inventory of skills development programs. • Define core skills applicable to the majority of the sector. • Develop and implement training tools for skills development. • Communicate to producers, education community and government.
