  1. Prospects of Solar Thermal Power Plants Using Parabolic Trough Collectors: Iran’s Design and Construction ExperiencesNov.2012 Islamic Republic of IRAN Ministry of Energy Renewable Energy Organization of Iran (SUNA)

  2. Annual Solar Insulation of the World

  3. Solar energy in Iran • Daily solar radiation in Iran is equal to 4 KWh per square meter. • The average sunny hour's reaches to 2800 hours per year. • In some regions such as the inner deserts and their surrounding cities (e.g., Yazds'), the average sunny hours even reach above 3200 hours per year.

  4. Solar energy in Iran Solar Radiation Kwh/m2 day) 2.8-3.8 3.8-4.5 4.5-5.2 5.2-5.4

  5. Solar thermal power plant in Iran • Shiraz Solar Thermal Power Plant • Yazd ISCCS Power Plant

  6. Shiraz • Shiraz the capital of Fars Province in the southern part of Iran at latitude 29o 36’ N and longitude 52o 32’ E with 1550 m elevation • Shiraz has received the top rating among several sunny locations in the country as the most favorable site for a solar thermal power plant installation • Shiraz enjoys 3354 hours of sunshine annually with average daily irradiation of 20 MJ/m2

  7. Characteristics of Shiraz solar power plant

  8. The most important activities about Shiraz Thermal Solar Power Plant • Design and manufacturing of solar collector including collector structure, mirrors shaping, collectors’ driving system and also so many scientific simulation and tests like collectors moving, wind effects on collectors and etc. • Developing of control philosophy of collectors’ field and oil cycle . • Design and manufacturing of oil cycle main parts like heat exchangers, expansion and storage tanks, piping and utility system. • Simulation and optimal assessment of oil and steam cycles based on basic design and optimal control of plant. • Design simulation and construction of steam cycle. • Thermo-economic analysis of power plant .

  9. Shiraz solar power plant layout
