PROJECT MISSION Project ‘DRISHTIMITRA’, a model rural eye care project, one of the most significant in North India in terms of reach, coverage and breadth of services to cover about 45 villages Provision of high quality, comprehensive ‘Inclusive Primary Eye Care’ to entire population of project area (around 1 Lac) in a cost effective way Provision to ‘Secondary Eye Care’ for limited purpose of prevention of blindness mainly through Specialist Intervention and Cataract Surgeries

  10. PROJECT MISSION Separate delivery channels • Schools for young • Village camps for elderly, adults, infants and non-school going children Over a period of 18 month, project reached out to most of the target population in Gurgaon and Jajjhar districts Project sponsored by Reliance

  11. IMPACT • Primary Eye Care provided to 1,00,000 people • Cataract Surgeries provided to 900 people • Spectacles provided to 16000 people • The cost per beneficiary was low and the technology- world class

  12. VISION CENTRE • Niramaya runs, eight primary eye care centres, since 2005 • Each centre, supported by a local community leader, operated once a week • Common resources (medical team, medicines, equipment) enable delivery of high quality services at low cost

  13. VISION CENTRE • Cataract identification (surgery through another Project) & Refractive errors tackled • Around 10000 beneficiaries every year • Local community, corporates, individual donors support the project apart from a mother NGO Concern India Foundation
