Overall Program Guidelines • Build/renovate access improvement projects benefiting recreational boaters and sport anglers. • SFR funds provide up to 75% of cost of project, remaining 25% - non federal (state/local) match. • Management and O&M provided by cooperating agency. Once project life is met (usu. 20yrs), improvements become the property of the cooperating agency

  6. Capitol Improvement Project (CIP) Proposals Project requests: • ADF&G, Division of Sport Fish Area Management Biologists and staff • State Parks • City managers, Port Administrators, Harbor Masters, etc.

  7. 4 Categories of Funds for Program Projects • Recreational Boating Access • Angler Access (Non-boating) • Boating Infrastructure Grant (BIG) Program • Clean Vessel Act (CVA) Pumpout Grants

  8. Recreational Boating Access • Purpose: Projects benefit trailerable (< 26 feet in length) recreational power boat. Project requests compete statewide for funding. ADF&G can provide the required match for some projects. • Non-qualifying projects: Projects that primarily benefit diesel powered boats, commercial fishing vessels, subsistence and personal use fisheries. • Project/grant information needs to be submitted to ADF&G no later than August 1, however coordinate with ADF&G as soon as possible.

Boating InfrastructureGrant (BIG) Program • Purpose: Provides transient moorage and related facilities for nontrailerable recreational boats (26’) • Non-federal match requirement: 25% per grant provided by cooperating agency (City/Borough) • Two Types: Tier I – Non-competitive, maximum amount $100,000 Tier II – Nationwide competitive, scoring/ranking criteria (including match amount) determines winning grants • Grant proposals need to be submitted to ADF&G no later than August 1, however coordinate with ADF&G as soon as possible

Clean Vessel Act (CVA) Pumpout Grants • Purpose: Provides funds to support construction and/or renovation of sewage pumpout and dump stations for recreational boats • Non-federal match requirement: 25% per grant provided by cooperating agency (City/Borough) • Nationwide competitive, scoring/ranking criteria (including match amount) determines winning grants • Grant proposals must be submitted to ADF&G no later than November 1 for next fiscal year, however coordinate with ADF&G as soon as possible
