  2. Logging on • Setting-up Your Account • Blocking Dates • Accepting Assignments • Lists • In this section you will: • Log onto www.thearbiter.net • Review the terms of agreement • Set-up your password • Join an organization – In this case, the North Central Volleyball Association

  3. Logging On: www.thearbiter.net • Type in the e-mail address, then type in your password. Your initial password is your last name. • Your e-mail address is the one you use for your sport. • Every official MUST have their own e-mail address. Addresses cannot be shared. • If in the future you forget your password, click on “Forgot your password” and it will be mailed to you. • Your computer will remember your password if you select “Remember my sign in information on this computer”. Watch out, don’t do this on a public or shared computer!

  4. Terms and Conditions • Accept the “Terms and Conditions”. It’s a licensing requirement to use the software. • Talk with Randy if you have any questions regarding this statement.

  5. You Must Change Your Password • The first time you log onto www.thearbiter.net,you must change your password from the default password. • REMEMBER!!! Passwords are case sensitive

  6. Just choose “OK”

  7. Join! • Once you log on, you will be invited to join our group. • Click “Accept” to join.

  8. If you see this, you have successfully joined your group. • Click “Sign In” to go to “Start Page”

  9. You are now at the “Start Page” • “Start Page” is the home base for all operations inside of the website. You can always return to this page by clicking on “Start Page” in the upper left corner of any page. • Watch this page for important announcements! • Click on “Help” to access more information. Try looking here for information before contacting Randy.

  11. Click “User Information”

  12. Make sure that your information is correct. It is helpful (but not required) to include your Social Security Number and your date of birth. Most schools ask for it. • Don’t worry about the Jersey number. While the system requires that you have one, the actual value is unimportant. • Next, edit your phone information. • Click the “Save” button when finished entering your data.

  13. Adding a phone number • To add additional phone numbers, click on the “+” (plus) symbol.

  14. Edit your entry and click “check” to save • Click ‘x’ to quit without saving

  15. Click “Pencil” to edit an entry • Click “Trash” to remove an entry • Click “Arrow” to move an entry • The first phone in the list is the one displayed by default on the officials roster list and on your game schedules. • The assigner is the only one who can see the Note.

  16. Click “Done” when you are finished (Either button can be clicked)

  17. You can change your site preferences by clicking here. • If you don’t like a change you made, reverse your selections.

From “My Start Page”, select “Calendar” • Select the Month you want to block dates for – you will find this option to select on the right-hand of the screen right below the Date Range box. • Then choose under “Action” what type of block you would like to do – “Block All Day”, “Block Part Day”, or “Clear Blocks”.

  20. Enter the appropriate dates in the “From” and “To” Field. Use the calendar icon to the right of each field to select the dates or type the date in. Format when typing “MM/DD/YYYY”. • Once you have those dates entered, select the “days” of the week to affect and place a check mark in each day of the week selection. • Then click “Apply”.

  21. To Block Part of the day would be the same, except you would include the“Time Range” – “From” & “To”. • Do not forget to include the Date Range in your selection. • You can also select a single day from the calendar to block (All or Part Day Block).

Key Points – Calendar Control • #1 – Select the type of block you need: - “Block All Day” - “Block Part Day” - “Clear Blocks” • #2 – Select the date range for that selection, if you selected “Block Part Day”, don’t forget to include the time “From” & “To”. Click apply to apply your settings. • #3 – Once you are done Select “Exit”

  23. From “My Start Page”, select the “Summary” link to print the Blocks Summary Report.

  24. Select the output format that you would like and press “Print”. The document will appear in a separate window that can be sent to your printer. • Select “Done” to return to “My Start Page”. • NOTE! This printing feature is only supported in Internet Explorer. If you are running a different browser, you are on your own.

Click the Pencils on the left to edit each day. • Mileage is based on the zip code in the “Postal Code” field. • Once you are done. click on the “Done” button to exit the screen. • Set your mileage limits generously so that you don’t limit your availability. Considering the large area that we cover, everyone needs to do their share of the “outer fringe” matches. There are a number of officials who already do more than their share. Let’s give them more opportunities to have a short night once and awhile! If you have special needs on particular dates, send Randy an email requesting special handling. DO NOT abuse the system!

  29. To access your schedule, click the “Ready to be assigned!” checkbox.

  30. Once you click on the “Ready to be assigned!” box you will be able to access your schedule.

  31. Click the checkboxes to accept or decline assignments. • Clicking on the blue site links will display the site’s contact information and permit display of a map of the site location. • Be sure to press “Submit” when you are done. If you press “Done” instead, you will return to the previous screen with NO CHANGES to your schedule! • Once you press submit you can no longer edit the status of any game that you accept or decline. After you press submit, you must contact Randy to change the status of any game that you have accepted or declined. Silent “bail outs” on the web are no longer possible.

  32. Click “Submit” to finalize changes.

  33. Accepted matches now display the date accepted. • Declined assignments are removed.

  34. “Notes” is a one-way communication tool. FROM the assignor TO you. Please do not expect Randy to read any information you enter into the notes field. • Please check “Notes” if the “Notes” icon is Green. The assignor may communicate important information in this field. For example, if a team has a player that may not play because of a disqualification you will be notified in this field. • If the “Notes” icon is Red,then there is no note associated with a game.

  36. To print your schedule, click the “Print Game Schedule” link.

  37. Select the date range that covers the period you want to print. • Select the format and press “Print”. As before, your schedule will appear in a separate window that can be sent to your printer. • Your printed schedule will show the names of other officials who have accepted their assignments.

  39. For a listing of officials, click the “Officials” link.

  40. Clicking on one of the letters in the light green box will display the officials whose last name begins with that letter. • If there are numbers in the dark green box at the bottom, then there are multiple pages. Click on the number to switch pages. • You can change the number of officials displayed per page. • The sort order can be changed by clicking on one of the headers at the top of the page. • Clicking on an e-mail address will start your e-mail program. Clicking on the address will generate a map (via MapQuest)

  41. Click the “Sites/Contacts” link for school information.

  42. Clicking on an “Address” link generates a map to the site (via MapQuest). • Clicking on a “Name” link generates written directions to the site.
