  1. Telling It Like It Is! I Pet. 3:10-17

  2. Statements that you may hear fromothers… • I MAY NOT BE DOING WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS, BUT YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSE TO JUDGE ME. I KNOW THE BIBLE CONDEMNS THAT!

  3. You may have heard someone say: • YOU SPEAK OF HAVING TO OBEY GOD ON THE BASIS OF “COMMANDS, EXAMPLES, AND NECESSARY INFERENCES.” WHERE DID YOU COME UP WITH THAT IDEA?

  4. Have you ever heard anyone say that? • DO NOT TALK TO ME ABOUT “COMMANDMENTS” AND “LAW.” WE ARE NO LONGER UNDER LAW, BUT UNDER GRACE (ROMANS 6:14), AND THEREFORE WE NOW HAVE FREEDOM IN CHRIST (GALATIANS 5:1).

  5. What about this idea that is sometimes advanced! • I REALIZE THAT GOD WAS STRICT IN THE OLD TESTAMENT AND EVEN STRUCK PEOPLE DEAD, BUT NOW THROUGH CHRIST, GOD IS FAR MORE LENIENT.

  6. What about this idea… • I CAN’T BELIEVE GOD IS AS PICKY AS YOU MAKE HIM OUT TO BE. IF WE LOVE HIM AND ARE SINCERE IT DOESN’T MATTER IF WE DO EVERYTHING EXACTLY THE WAY THE BIBLE SAYS. • …Selected from Brentwood Web

  7. Telling It Like It Is

  8. 10 - For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: • 11. Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.

  9. 12. For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. • 13 And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?

  10. 14. But and if ye suffer for righteousness’ sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled; • 15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear

  11. 16 Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falseley accuse your good conversation in Christ. • 17 For it is better if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.

  23. What is the condition of an erring Christian? 2 Pet. 2:20-22 • 20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. 21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. 22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
