Functions and OperationOverview DHW I The central apartment unit QAX910 supports DHW heating with a storage tank installed in the apartment itself, or remote control of central DHW heating with a primary controller (e.g. Synco) or some other central apartment unit via KNX-TP1.   8. Functions and OperationOverview DHW VII Controlled electric immersion heater If a DHW sensor is configured, DHW heating is always effected with a controlled electric immersion heater. If no DHW sensor is configured, DHW heating is ensured with the electric immersion heater, but uncontrolled (via thermostat). In that case, the central apartment unit only controls enabling of the electric immersion heater. In alternating operation with charging pump / diverting valve and electric immersion heater, the changeover criterion used is summer operation (summer = electric immersion heater). RRV9xx

Functions and OperationFunctions and Settings • Holidays / special days • Main menu > Holidays / special days > Calendar > • The holidays / special days program allows entry of up to 16 holiday or special day periods. • It is possible to enter the beginning and the end of the period plus the reason for absence. Example: • Start: 29.05.2007 08.00 • End: 31.05.2007 17.00 • Reason: Holidays • *: Every year on the same date

Functions and OperationFunctions and Settings • Legionella function • The DHW storage tank temperature is raised to the selected legionella setpoint. • The following settings can be made: • To what setpoint shall the DHW storage tank be heated up? • Main menu > DHW > Legionella setpoint > {Temperature} • How often shall the legionella function be activated? • Main menu > DHW > Legionella protection frequency> {Day} • At what time of day shall the legionella function be activated? • Main menu > DHW > Legionella protection time > {Time} • How long shall the DHW storage tank be maintained at the legionella protection setpoint? • Main menu > DHW > Legionella protection period > {Time} Note: The selection of Never deactivates the legionella function (legionella protection frequency).

If the DHW temperature exceeds the Maximum temperature alarm, or falls below the Minimum temperature alarm, a fault status message is displayed. When using setting “---“, DHW temperature supervision is deactivated.

Charging is enabled when the DHW temperature drops below the DHW setpoint by the amount of the switching differential set here. Charging is stopped as soon as the DHW setpoint is reached again.

Functions and OperationFunctions and Settings Maximum charging time Main menu > DHW > Settings > Charging time max > {5 … 250 min} To prevent DHW charging from being activated for excessive periods of time, DHW charging with absolute priority can be limited (5…250 min) (=> heating plant locked for too long, or operation restricted). If the DHW setpoint is not reached during this period of time, DHW charging will be aborted. In that case, charging remains disabled for the same period of time. On completion of that time, charging is effected again the normal way via the storage tank temperature. Q1: Diverting valve

Functions and OperationFunctions and Settings • Forced charging via QAX910 • When shall automatic forced charging take place? • Main menu > DHW > Settings > Forced charging > . . . • Never • Forced charging is deactivated. However, activation of forced charging via the central apartment unit‘s DHW button is still possible • With 1st change to normal • Forced charging takes place when, for the first time that day, the Reduced setpoint changes to the Normal setpoint • With every change to normal • Forced charging takes place every time the Reduced setpoint changes to the Normal setpoint

  28. Functions and OperationFunctions and Settings Forced charging via QAX910 Forced charging can enforce DHW charging even if the switch-on criterion has not yet been reached. Start: Forced charging is started if activated and when the storage tank temperature lies at least 1 K below the Normal setpointEnd: Forced charging is terminated when the Normal setpoint is reached An extended press on the central apartment unit‘s DHW button triggers one-time DHW forced charging to the Normal setpoint.

Functions and OperationFunctions and Settings Setpoint increase DHW charging Main menu > DHW > Settings > Setpoint increase DHW charging > … To make possible DHW charging, the flow temperature must be higher than the required DHW setpoint. The above parameter is used to set the desired increase.

Functions and OperationFunctions and Settings • System pump • Main menu > DHW > Settings > System pump required > … • Yes • No • If the system pump is controlled by a KNX TP1-compatible controller, it can be selected whether the system pump shall run during DHW charging (depending on the selected type of plant). A: System pump required for DHW charging B: System pump not required for DHW charging

Functions and OperationFunctions and Settings • Summer operation with electric immersion heater • It is possible to define whether the DHW time switch shall be used for controlling the electric immersion heater: • Main menu > DHW > settings > Summer operation electric immersion heater > … • Without time switch • The time switch has no impact on the control of the electric immersion heater in the summer. The DHW is constantly controlled to the Normal setpoint • With time switch • The controller gives consideration to the time switch and the holiday program for control of the electric immersion heater in the summer. The DHW operating mode must be set to “Auto“ • Note: • When selecting With time switch, consideration can be given to locking times enforced by the utility company.

Functions and OperationFunctions and Settings Pump overrun time (valid for pumps and mixing valves) Main menu > Apartment > Settings > Pump overrun time When there is a heat request from one of the rooms, the room group pump is activated. When the request no longer exists, the pump is deactivated on completion of the overrun time. Note: The overrun time is the same for all pumps (room groups, DHW). Functions and OperationFunctions and Settings Locking signals and forced signals Space heating (room group pump) responds to locking signals (internal / external DHW) generated as a result of absolute DHW priority (signal from the QAX910 or the primary controller).   34. Functions and OperationExercises • DHW functions 1. Press the DHW / ventilation button to select DHW operating mode “Normal“. 2. Select DHW operating mode “Auto“ via the menu dialog. 3. Check the DHW state via the menu dialog. 4. Parameterize “Absolute DHW priority“. 5. Parameterize the legionella function to suit your needs. 6. Trigger manual forced charging via the DHW / ventilation button. When the function is active, check the DHW symbol.
