  1. National Ozone Monitoring Research & Education Center, Belarus State University, Minsk, Belarus National Report of the Republic of Belarus for the 7th WMO/UNEP Ozone Research Managers Meeting Geneva, 19-21 May 2008

  2. Belarus Column ozone measurements - a universal ultraviolet solar spectrophotometer-ozonometer • Instrument for measuring of total ozone amount in the atmosphere by means of registration of solar ultraviolet radiation at a number of wavelengths (up to 20) in the spectral region of 295 – 320 nm in dependence of total ozone value, weather conditions, and inclination angle of the Sun. • Possibility of total ozone observations at low sun inclination angles ( 8). • Available measurements of direct sun UV-B spectral distribution in 295 – 320 nm region. PION • Fully automatic processes of measurement and data storage under the control of an external personal computer. • Precise automatic sun tracking system. • Portable construction. • Possible application for treating the variety of other problems of ultraviolet atmospheric optics by reprogramming. 3. Belarus Column ozone measurements - an universal ultraviolet solar spectrophotometer-ozonometer PION Samples of measurements

  4. Belarus Column ozone measurements - an universal ultraviolet solar spectrophotometer-ozonometer The concept of self-calibration of network ozonometers, announced earlier, gains the further development. PION • a modified procedure of the extraterrestrial constant calibration taking account of changing measured diurnal column ozone data is proposed; • testing and correction of the wavelength setting; • Langley absolute calibration of the spectrometer; • tuning of the sun-tracking system.

  5. Belarus Profile measurements of ozone and other gases Institute of Physics of National Academy of Sciences (IPNAS) Lidar station , Minsk

  6. Belarus Profile measurements of ozone and other gases IPNAS Lidar station , Minsk

  7. Belarus Profile measurements of ozone and other gases NOMREC Ozonometric station , Minsk. Total NO2 measurements Total NO2 measurements according NDSC standard. Modified MDR-23 monochromator.

  8. Belarus UV measurements - an automatic ultraviolet spectroradiometer • Compact instrument for measuring of absolute intensities and spectral distribution of the direct and scattered UV solar radiation in the spectral range of 280 - 450 nm. • Optimized to all kinds of UV radiation measurements (double holographic grating monochromator with dispersion subtraction); possible application for treating the variety of other problems of ultraviolet atmospheric optics by reprogramming. PION-UV • Portable construction.

  9. Belarus Information to the public Mapping and UV Index forecast generated specifically for different regions have been realized since 2006. UV Index short-term forecast for all territory of the republic as well as a map (for clear sky and assuming predicted overcast) is submitted to the National news agency BelТА on a daily basis and published in republican newspapers "Zviazda" and "Obozrevatel". These data are also available on the NOMREC site at http://ozone.bsu.by and on the official site of the Republican weather center at http://www.pogoda.by. A corresponding program automatically updating site information has been originated by the NOMREC. Two brochures named “20 years of the Montreal Protocol” and ”UV radiation safe application” were specially published in 2007 for a national meeting of environmental specialists dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Montreal Protocol.

  10. Belarus Analysis & other research Daily values of surface temperature and total ozone (smoothed by 4 point moving average).

  11. Belarus Surface Ozone DOAS Instrument with Zero Path TrIO-1 Optical scheme

  12. Belarus Surface Ozone DOAS Instrument with Zero Path TrIO-1 Concentration of surface ozone. Data received at the Minsk оzone station are marked with asterisks, those from Berezina National Park – with circles. Results of data smoothing with the averaging period for 15 days are brought. The results of monitoring of the surface ozone concentration at both stations for 2007

  13. Belarus M-124 upgrade M-124 ozonometer upgradedat Molodezhnaya Antarctic station

  14. Belarus M-124 upgrade Total ozone data measured at Molodezhnaya Antarctic station

  15. Belarus M-124 upgrade Relative spectral sensitivities
