  1. Free Lunch Project for Very Poor Children Project story Susanna Ma 馬虹瑤 Tel: 86 187 3601 0027 Email: susanna0329@foxmail.com

  2. You are going to experience our DREAM. A dream want to contribute to end poverty and poverty.

  3. How to achieve your dream Do you have a dream? Which step of dreams you are on now? How many your dreams have been come true?

  4. Step One: Discover • Make a choice • Members of Academy choose their own Millennium Development Goal at the fall every year. • I chose the first goal, ending poverty and hunger at the same time last year.

  5. Why do I choose ending poverty and hunger? Poverty and hunger are a basic and critical problem in China and children, who are the future of the country, are the most at-risk segment of the population.

  6. Poverty & Hunger • The kitchen in the primary school Tong Shu Zhuang in Lunshan, Henan province. • Bricks on the ground. • Even no facility to cook.

  7. Step Two: Describe • Have a voice Because I can't achieve this goal by myself. I announced I support the goal of ending poverty and hunger almost every class in the WAFW, hope to appeal more and more members to fight for this together.

  8. Step Three: Develop Take action Time flies, it was time for Academy members to do a real project without notice. We started to present our thoughts on the paper as an abstract.

  9. Writing an abstract is a start I am thankful for there were many professional persons guide me to write down my ideas as a formal abstract always, like our facilitator Bridget and guest Judith.

  10. Writing an abstract is a start Who Where Why What When How

  11. Original Plan I planed to raise money on the Honoring Women Awards Show during the Women Symposium in May. The team members would give a short speech to call on the audiences to make donations. The minimum donation we would ask ¥3.00 per audience and try to raise a total of 7000 yuan. 3 is one poor children's charge for one lunch meal. The Opera House holds 1195 seats, if the theatre is full, it means we could collect 3585yuan, and Shawn Chen had promised he would match donation, add another 3585, it's 7170 at least. It means we could offer the whole year's lunches for 35 students.

  12. Step Four: Decide Build a TEAM. Once you get a team, you can promote your project faster. Because there are people help you!

  13. Team Members Miry Xu, MollyMeng,Annalee, Lisa Mao, Susanna Ma, Valerie Wang, Talia Lee, Kerry Kong, Claudia Xu, Wency Zhang

  14. Preparation NOTICE: Regular meeting is necessary the PowerPoint on the breakout forum 15 donation boxes videos HR details and so on.

  15. On the day to play full out In the daytime, we had a breakout forum to report what we were doing. In the evening, we were going to implement the donate. However, bad news can show up anywhere and anytime, which you cannot predict.

  16. On the day to play full out • Board office told me they canceled our donation without one reason unfortunately. • It's like a tragedy for everyone, isn't it? • We never thought of holding back, but we didn't get the chance to show up at last.

  17. Step Five: Play Full Out • Though we lost the chance to show that on the ceremony, we still do that on the breakout forum. • We got money. • Students donated their money to support this project and us, totally 227.2RMB.

  18. Time to Play Full Out Are you disappointed? Are you tired? Is it enough when you get 227.2yuan? Is there any idea or chance you get to seize? Have you ever think about giving up?

  19. Sparks of thought fly I heard we would hold a party on Sunday which most of you attended. I knew we could do the project on party!

  20. All roads lead to Roma! I gave a performance of kung fu to call on my friends on party to donate. We got 524RMB that night.

  21. Moving stories • Strangers' stories • Love from America across the Pacific Ocean • Support from the Internet • ……

  22. How much we donate • We got 1800yuan by the end of August and donated all the money to the NGO "Free Lunch for Children". • It means we offered 600 meals to the poor children who have no lunch in Henan province.

  23. The receipt from China Social Welfare Foundation

  24. Charity Bazaar • Wait for expanding • With your support • Thank you to be with me Joyce Ginger MY MOM Jerrie Bridget Ruth Kathy Shirley Robert

  25. We got match! Dr. Shawn Chen

  26. The End • I believe 600 meals can feed the children for a period • I believe 600 meals are not enough to end poverty and hunger in the world

  27. The End • I believe 600 meals is like a baby for our team members • I believe 600 meals is some kind of satisfaction for all the donors

  28. The End • I believe this project is just a beginning • The end of 600 meals will encourage all the people who were involved in ending poverty and hunger to do more things and make a difference

  29. Go and Make a Difference 10/18/2012
