Recently, the Federal Government of Australia conducted a Jobs and Skills Summit in Canberra, Although the Australian economy is doing well despite two years of border closures, many Australian employers have difficulty recruiting the right talent. The country has recently increased the Australia PR visa cap to 195,000 in 2022-23 to help ease widespread, critical skills shortages.   4. Working hours relaxation for student visa holders until 2023 From January 2022, international students and their dependents can work unlimited hours. The measure aims at helping as many students as possible to help Australian employers in boosting productivity and economic activity. Students may also choose to work before the start of their study program. Extended Graduate Visas under the Post Study Work Rights Stream International students in Australia studying higher education courses are eligible to get additional two years on their graduate visa after their study ends. However, they must apply for a Graduate Visa Subclass 485 to access this facility. The visa is for students enrolling in Bachelor's, Master's, and Ph.D. programs.

Home affairs minister Clare O'Neil confirmed that the Government intends to increase the permanent migration number to 195,000 people, up from 160,000. A total of 34,000 visas have been allocated to regional areas. • This could mean thousands of new permanent residents will arrive in Australia and address labor shortages.
