Dr Nel grew up on a horse breeding farm in the Free State province of South Africa. He struck out on his own at the age of eighteen, traveling to Pretoria, where he created an enormously successfully property business. The success of that business allowed Dr Nel to finance a group of companies called the Gate Investment Group. Gate, he says, is an acronym for Greatness Achieved Through Excellence.

  1. Dr Nel - Successful Magazine Dr Nel is a successful businessman and philanthropist. He founded the Wealth Report magazine in South Africa in 2008. The launch of the magazine was a great success. Dr Nel believes it is the nature of human beings to covet exotic cars and long for the tranquility of exotic locations, even in the midst of tumultuous markets and the global recession.

  2. Dr Nel - The Wealth Report Dr Nel is the founder of The Wealth Report magazine. He holds a Master of Business Administration and a PhD in Marketing from the University of the Commonwealth. Dr Nel founded Gate Investments in 1997, a specialist risk business partner finance company for formal small and medium enterprises in South Africa, and select African countries. Dr Nel says the Gate Investments Group is constantly looking for opportunities to optimize returns on its investments.

  3. Dr Nel - Lifelong Horse Enthusiast Dr Nel has enjoyed horses for his entire life. He grew up riding on a horse breeding farm in the Free State province of South Africa and won his first prize in a competition when he was just five years old. Dr Nel started playing polo at the age of eight and was introduced to the sport by his grandfather Thys Human. Dr Nel is the founder of The Wealth Report magazine.
