  2. Pho is one of the most popular dishes in Vietnam and is a staple in most parts. Pho is made up of a savory soup of onion, ginger and fish sauce, with rice noodles, bits of chicken or pork, and garnished with herbs. Pho is comfort food at all levels and cities also have pho stands along the streets which are frequented by the workers and office goers in that particular area.

  3. Rau Muong: Also known as water spinach, Rau Muong is a tropical plant with tender, soft leaves and shoots. It is a staple vegetable in Vietnam and is also used for garnish. Traditional Rau Muong dishes are prepared by stir frying the vegetable which has been blanched in oyster or chicken stock and seasoning it with lots of garlic and fish sauce. Kem Chanh Day: Commonly known as the Passion Ice Cream, Kem Chanh Day is a must for a hot summer day. The sweet and sour ice cream is made by folding passion fruit and milk into whipped cream and is served in half cut passion fruit cups, with a bit of sugar dusted on the top.

  4. Cha ca: Cha ca is made sizzling bite sized pieces of fish, with garlic, ginger and turmeric, and finished off with some fresh dill on top. Cha ca is served on a hot pan and it is so popular that the entire street of Cha Ca LA Vong is devoted to it! Dau Phu Sot Ca Chua: In English it simply means “fried tofu in tomato sauce,” but Dau Phu Sot Ca Chua is so much more than just that. It is chunks of tofu with a spring onion coating, deep fried and soaked in a rich, fresh tomato sauce and garnished with fresh herbs.

  5. Che Bap: A pudding dish, the Che Bap is made of sweet corn and rice or tapioca starch. This simple pudding is served in a bowl and is delicious and wholesome. Ca Tim Kho To: A dish that emboldens the taste and textures of one vegetable only, Ca Tim Kho To primarily consists of eggplants, sliced or diced. Eggplant on its own might taste bland, but spice it up with sautéed tomatoes, mince meat, soy sauce and sugar and you have a pot full of culinary goodness!

  6. Bahn Khot: it is the finger food version of Vietnamese pancake. Bahn Khot. It has a crunchy coating made of coconut milk, is stuffed with spring onions, shrimps, and mung beans with a dash of shrimp flakes for garnish. Che Ba Mau: Che Ba Mau is also known as the three colored dessert because it contains three layers of yellow mung beans, red beans and green pandam jelly, respectively. Then coconut milk is poured from the top. The dessert is served in a glass with a long spoon to mix the layers together.
