  1. Risk factors and symptoms of liver cancer Liver cancer is a form of cancer that starts in the cells of the liver. Liver basically is a football sized organ that tends to sit in the upper right portion of the abdomen, right beneath the diaphragm and above the stomach. Multiple types of cancer can form in the liver, and best doctor for liver in Delhi can be contacted to manage and treat such conditions. Hepatocellular carcinoma is the most common type of liver cancer. This form of cancer begins in the main type of liver cell (hepatocyte). Other types of liver cancer, like intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma and hepatoblastoma, are relatively less common. Most primary liver cancer is cancer in the liver and cancer in bile ducts in the liver. Here are a few important factors that increase the risk of primary liver cancer: • Chronic infection with HBV or HCV: Chronic infections with hepatitis C virus (HCV) or hepatitis B virus (HBV) increases the risk of liver cancer. • Cirrhosis: This is an irreversible and progressive condition that causes scar tissue to form in the liver over time and may increase the risk of developing liver cancer. Availing Liver cirrhosis treatment in India in time is extremely important for anyone with this condition. • Specific inherited liver diseases: There are certain inherited liver diseases like hemochromatosis and Wilson's disease which increases the risk of developing liver cancer.

  2. Diabetes: Comparatively, people with diabetes have higher risk of liver cancer as opposed to the ones who don't. • Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease: An accumulation of fat in the liver can increase the risk of liver cancer. • Exposure to aflatoxins: Aflatoxins are poison that is produced by molds that grow on crops that are poorly stored. Crops like nuts and grains may get contaminated with aflatoxins, and end up in food items made of these products. • Excessive alcohol consumption: Consuming more than a moderate amount of alcohol on a daily basis, over the years, might lead to irreversible liver damage and increase the risk of liver cancer. When liver cancer is in its early stages, it may not show any major symptoms. As the condition becomes more severe, Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (IHC) can cause: • Fatigue • Dark-colored urine • Jaundice (a disease that causes skin and eyes to yellow) • Unexplained weight loss, nausea, or loss of appetite • A lump below the rib cage, pain on the right side of the abdomen, or pain near the right shoulder Any person experiencing these symptoms should consult a liver specialist who can appropriately diagnose the condition and provide the best Liver Cancer Treatment in India.
