  1. The Secret To A Great Wooden Boat Finishing If you have spent the time building your own boat, then you will want to make sure that the boat finishing is done properly, first to protect all that hard work and effort you put into boat building it and also to make it look great for your maiden voyage. Before applying any coating to the wood, it will need to be sanded down first. This will give it a smooth surface to start from. Then all the loose material and dust should be removed, so it doesn't ruin the finish. A quick once over with a vacuum or a good sweep with a brush will do this job perfectly. Once this is done, there are various different ways that you could choose to finish you boat building. Painting is one of these, but for some this is less desirable as it covers the natural beauty of the wood itself. If this is the case, there are a few other options available. A coating of oil is probably the easiest finish to apply and the most traditional way of treating the wood, but there are some drawbacks to this method. The oil has to be reapplied regularly to maintain its look and to maximize its protective capabilities. However, general upkeep of the boat building should be done regularly too anyway, so this shouldn't be too much bother. It is also possible to purchase oils that contain wax, which prolong its useful life and this can also add a slight waterproofing to the wood too, so this is something to look for when buying marine oils. The motor yacht design process initially has nothing to do with the yacht designer. The first part of the process is entirely up to the future owner and consists of his ideas and specifications about what he wants to finish up with. Obviously, the more detailed his specification the closer the finished yacht will be to his original ideas, but it has to be said that in many instances the design process will contain

  2. changes in details along the way. Furthermore, some ideas may be left until the yacht construction - for instance, details of the aesthetics, paint finishes, seating covers, and more. Once the designer has the owner's requirements then the design process can begin. The object of the process is to take the owner's requirements and carry out the design so that the finished yacht will be as close to those requirements as possible, consistent with performance, handling, comfort, safety, and fuel efficiency. The designer looks at the project as a whole, yet there are three main areas of development, and the process continues to refine ideas while the yacht construction at the yard. The technical spaces and the ergonomics have to be combined in order to finish up with an effective and beautiful product. Most motor yacht owners today want sophisticated and luxurious interiors, especially if they plan on making long cruises around the world, and so an interior designer will form part of the design team. It is also necessary, of course, to design an efficient layout, taking into consideration the positioning of the power units, the type of drive, and other onboard requirements such as a garage for a tender and/or submersible, and a helicopter landing pad.
