  1. The TOEFL Test Test of English as a Foreign Language The TOEFL test is used to measure the English language ability of non-native speakers wishing to enrol in English-speaking universities. The test was originally developed at the Center for Applied Linguistics under the direction of Stanford University applied linguistics professor, Dr. Charles A. Ferguson. The test is accepted by many English-speaking academic and professional institutions. The TOEFL Internet-based Test (iBT) format has progressively replaced the computer-based tests (CBT) and paper-based tests (PBT), although paper-based testing is still used in select areas. Four Sections of TOEFL tests are included. Reading - The TOEFL test time takes 54 to 72 minutes. It includes Read passages, then responds to questions. 30 to 40 questions are in this reading part. Listening - The test takes 41 to 57 minutes. You just listen to lectures or a classroom discussion, then respond to questions. And 28 to 39 questions are in this listening part. Writing - It includes Read a passage, listen to a recording, and then type your written response. 2 Tasks are available in this part. It takes 50 Minutes for take a test. Speaking - You should speak into a microphone about familiar topics and discuss material you read about and listened to. It has 4 tasks and the test takes 17 minutes. The TOEFL iBT test is scored on a scale of 0 to 120 points. Each of the four sections receives a scaled score from 0 to 30. The scaled scores from the four sections are added together to determine the total score. TOEFL test scores are valid for two years after your test date. And You can take tests many times as you would like there are unlimited retakes.
