    1. Alcoa and Aluminum Industry’s Sustainability Development ??????????????

    2. 2 Alcoa is one of the world largest aluminum companies. Established in 1888, Alcoa is very actively working in almost every corner of the world to produce GHG neutral material for use by over 6 billion people and to serve over 450 communities in over 44 countries. ??????????????????1888?,??????????????????????????,?????44???,??450???60??????? 4. 4 Alcoa Business Sustainability Model ????????? The Alcoa business sustainability model illustrates how we are taking this abstract notion of sustainability and integrating it into our business. At the centre of this model is our values and principles and these values fully reflect our desire to pursue environmental excellence, social responsibility, good corporate governance and economic performance. The left side of the model show how will use the ABS to drive sustainability performance at three level people, product and processes. The right side of the framework shows our interaction with external stakeholders. This interaction is critical to understanding their expectations on performance and maintaining our ability to integrate these expectation into management systems, products and operations. ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????,??????????????????,?????????,?????????????????? ???????????????????????,?????????????????? ????????????? ???????????????????????????????,????????????? 6. 6 Aluminium production is responsible for about 1% of man-made GHG emissions ???????GHG????????1% The full process of manufacturing new stocks of aluminium is responsible for 1% of the global human-induced greenhouse gas emissions that scientists with the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) identify as a cause of unnaturally accelerated rates of global warming. Primary (new) metal production is responsible for 0.4% Production of the energy required to turn alumina into aluminium makes up a further 0.6%. To put the total for aluminium in perspective, it is less than the entire emissions output of Australia (about 1.4%), a modern industrial nation of 20 million people, and equivalent in annual emission terms to sixty million cars. 7. 7 Opportunities ????? Aluminum can be a big part of the solution! ?????????????! Recycling – requires 5% of the energy needed to make a product with primary aluminum ???? – ????????????????5%

    9. 9 Aluminium Is a Very Sustainable Product ?????????????? Aluminum has got a reputation in China as a high consumption of energy and high emission. It is the time to give back aluminum its real nature. With extensive application of Alcoa technologies and the efforts of many companies in this industry, aluminum is becoming more a GHG neural metal. Recycling of aluminum only needs 5% of the energy used as primary aluminum ingot needed and only a minimum per cent of aluminum will be evaporated. As a direct result, 70% aluminum produced since 1888 is still in reuse today as we are speaking. 580 million tons of aluminum produced and 450 million tons are still in use. ????????,??????????????????????????????????????????,??????????????????????5%??????????,??????1%??????????: ???,70%??1888???????????! ???,????5?8????,4?5??????????! 13. 13 Specific Smelter Electricity Requirements Down ??????? In the area of energy conservation, Alcoa has reduced world wide electricity usage for primary aluminum manufacturing by more than one-third since 1950. But conserving energy takes much more than investing in new technology it requires changing activities and practices, at every level, that contribute to inefficiency and waste. Our Energy Efficiency Network finds ways our company can improve energy conservation, making energy efficiency and climate change top priorities in our overall business strategy. The network has helped us identify and capture sustainable annual savings of more than $20 million. We have a long standing commitment to renewable hydro power. We're a founding member of the Green Power Market Development Group, helping develop corporate markets for renewable energy sources. Our new smelter in Iceland will be one of the lowest GHG intensity smelters in the world, using hydroelectric power to achieve the lowest greenhouse gas emissions per ton of aluminum possible. We want it to set the benchmark for sustainability best practices in the industry. In Brazil, Alcoa is participating in developing hydropower plants that independent studies show will be environmentally sound, socially responsible and economically feasible. That is a winning combination for sustainability. Today, our company’s hydro facilities generate billions of kilowatt hours for Alcoa operations worldwide and we are committed to decreasing the company’s reliance on fossil fuels by increasing the use of natural, renewable energy sources that help lower carbon dioxide emissions. We're already using biodiesel, an alternative fuel consisting of diesel and 20% soybean oil or other non-petroleum ingredients, to power mobile equipment at our plants. One of the new corporate sustainability goal is by 2020, 50%of Alcoa products – except for raw ingot that is sold to others directly- will be made from recycled aluminum. The rate currently stands at approximately 20%. ????????????????2020?,50%?????(??????????)??????????????????20%?
