Hydro Trends & Challenges • Three-pronged: O&M, WM, PMA • One of many project functions; positive PR; effective advocacy; public education • Still best for base load and/or peaking; will need Rehab • No new starts; new energy sources; new PMA funding initiatives • New operating criteria and priorities • storage reallocation; new energy sources • new constraints (ESA, CWA); stricter regulatory compliance • water management responsibilities are shared • R & D (goal-oriented, long-term, prone to cut) • Open to international assistance/cooperation (2-way street)
